Alain Couetil did us a favour at Vichy earlier this month and I’m very hopeful Jaina Kelle can give the yard another course winner in the Grade 3 AQPS contest today (1.33pm).

She won really nicely on debut at the course at the end of May, coming home clear of a Daniele Mele representative that will have been well-prepped and has since sold to the UK.

Jaina Kelle finished fourth on her next outing in the Gr.3 at Le Lion D’Angers in mid-July, behind the re-opposing Jeannette (first) and Joie Des Obeaux (third). However, the front four were separated by just over a length and it would have been closer still had Jaina Kelle not been hampered late on.  She went to win her race early enough that day and though she will have disappointed favourite backers (she was sent off odds-on), it was a good effort on ground that will have been quick enough for her.

An imposing physical, she should be seen to better effect on the soft ground today.  She’s from an excellent AQPS family (sister Ima Kelle won on debut last month, another sister was second in one of these Gr.3 bumpers, and brother El Martel won a Gr.3 AQPS and was third in the Gr.1 Jacques De Vienne) and her yard continues to fire in the winners.
