Arnaud Chaille-Chaille is operating at a 23% strike-rate at Auteuil this season (17-73) and we’re hoping Sangho Du Mathan can give him another winner in the Listed handicap hurdle (1.25pm).

The four year old had a busy time of it in the first half of the year, making a winning debut in mid-February and, six starts later, rounding off the season with a Listed success here in late June.

Now 4-7 in his career to date, there’s a good chance of more to come from this very likeable four year old, who is the type to only just do enough – that 2L success in June followed three successes where the official winning margin was a neck (once) or short-head (twice).

Chaille-Chaille is keen to get this son of Bathyron back over fences, but this valuable prize is worth a shot and the mark is very workable.

Favourite Altesse Du Berlais is obviously the one to beat, having won the Grade 1 Prix Ferdinand Dufaure over fences here in May, but Sangho Du Mathan looks a good each-way alternative to the favourite.

Later on the card, Sophie Leech can strike with favourite Adjali in the concluding handicap hurdle (3.10pm).

The seven year old was formerly in the care of Nicky Henderson, for him he was rated 147 at his peak as a four year old back in 2019.

He is not operating near that level these days, but was still running to marks in the high 120s early last summer and signalled at a return to form when runner-up in a handicap hurdle at Clairefontaine last time.

This looks a weak race, even for the grade, and the 11/4 on offer looks worth taking.
