An eight-race card at Auteuil and our bet goes in the third (4.41pm), with Saint Turgeon an interesting contender on his return to the course.

He was a really classy four year old, finishing third in the autumn Grade 1 here in November 2020, and won twice over fences here last spring.

He faced some really tough tasks in the autumn, taking on high-class, established older Graded horses, and will certainly find this easier than when sixth behind the likes of L’Autonomie and Galop Marin in October!

He had a heavy fall at Compiegne later that month, but looked in good nick when third at Moulins last time in what was a decent race – that wouldn’t be his track, either.  The race was being used as a prep for the big handicap here last weekend, but Satalia has waited for this instead and I think the trip suits better than the 4300m of the Grande Course de Haies de Printemps.

Though quite a deep race, he has the best form on offer and looks the one to beat.

4.41pm Auteuil – 1pt win Saint Turgeon @ 11/2 (most firms, 6-1 with Skybet)
