The handicap chase (12.05pm) is far from the strongest of races and though Guena Des Mottes could prove too good for these if bouncing back to form, Feu D’Artifice is the one to back at the prices.

He has plenty of form around Auteuil, for all that he has yet to win here, and having been rated 62 as a juvenile hurdler, the scopey son of Cokoriko is now down to a rating of 56, which he came close to winning off when runner-up to Futbolisto over this course and distance in June.  That rival won his next two starts in handicap hurdles, including a 100K contest in July and with the pair having drawn clear of the remainder, the form looks good.

He has had excuses since – Lion D’Angers certainly wouldn’t be his track and I thought he ran creditably there last time.  The return here, and to this trip, is a big plus and the booking of James Reveley off this light a weight catches the eye.
