Jean-Claude Rouget won the Group 3 Prix Chloe in 2016 with War Flag and he bids for a repeat success today with another daughter of War Front in Sippinsoda.
A winner of her first two starts on the All-Weather last backend, she was upped in trip to score on her turf debut at Lyon in April, winning over 1m3f, beating the talented Blue Wings. She was pitched in the Prix Saint-Alary on her next outing, but just did a bit too much early on that day and didn’t see her race out.
An exceptionally well-bred filly, I think this will prove to be her trip and she can give her trainer a fourth win in this race.
2.50pm Chantilly – 1pt win Sippinsoda @ 15/8 (most firms, 2-1 with William Hill)
Two Face could only finish ninth on debut, but the Peter Schiergen-trained colt encountered plenty of traffic in the home straight that day and is overpriced for this afternoon’s 1m2f maiden at Chantilly (5.10pm).
He broke well on debut at Saint-Cloud and raced in midfield, with his rider looking to make ground on the rail. He was hampered on several occasions and the performance can certainly be upgraded.
His trainer knows this family very well and a step forward is expected, particularly with the yard in fine form at present.
5.10pm Chantilly – 1pt win, 0.5pt place Two Face @ 12-1 (all firms)
