Zarak The Brave got the better of a Race Sharp selection in second when scoring with the minimum of fuss at Le Croise-Laroche last month and though he steps up in grade here, he is well worth supporting.

He showed a nice level of ability in two runs over 1m1.5f on the AW in November and February, but looked a completely different proposition upped to 1m4f last time, absolutely bolting up in what was admittedly a weak maiden.

Stephane Wattel has his team in excellent form and was on the mark at Group 3 level at the weekend, teaming up with Barzalona to land the Prix de la Grotte.  It’s notable that Zarak The Brave held an entry in the Group 3 Prix Noailles that day, and Wattel also has him in the Group 2 Prix Greffulhe early next month (entries for which closed today), an indication that the horse has thrived since his win.

His experience should stand him in good stead here against the once-raced favourite Demarcay and 9/2 feels a fair price.

6.15pm Chantilly – 2pts win Zarak The Brave @ 9/2 (all firms, though 5-1 with Skybet)
