The 15-runner nursery at Chantilly (2.53pm) is competitive enough, but at a big price I am taking a chance on Arabian Music, who should be well-suited by conditions on her handicap debut.

Pia and Joakim Brandt’s filly showed up well enough in a strong sprint maiden on debut (when in the care of Frederic Rossi), before showing lots of speed on her second start at Compiegne over 7f, on both occasions under Maxime Guyon.  Upped to a mile last time, she was too keen through the race, but still ran respectably.

The return of Guyon for this handicap debut is a plus, as is the drop back in trip to 6.5f, but perhaps the most interesting move is the switch to the All-Weather for this daughter of US dirt sire Maclean’s Music and that could well bring about further improvement.

Brandt was very positive about Arabian Music’s prospects shortly after the filly was switched to her yard earlier in the summer, even suggesting she could gain black-type by the end of the year.  Though those early hopes have dimmed somewhat, she does look to go handicapping off a fair mark of 34 and is worth chancing, as this trip on the AW could well be exactly what she needs.

2.53pm Chantilly – 0.5pt win Arabian Music @ 16-1 (all firms)
