Having tipped Keep Fire when he finished third at Vichy in July, I’m giving the Siyouni colt another chance at Chantilly this afternoon.

The Francis Graffard-trained three year old just looked a little rusty that day on his first start since March, but was doing his best work late on and shaped as though this extra furlong would suit well.  He didn’t build on the run when finishing in midfield in a competitive Quinte next time, but that came just nine days later and he can be forgiven the run.

It is interesting that he has been supplemented for this race, having previously been given options in two level-weights class 2 contests in the past week, as well as an entry in the Quinte at Longchamp on Saturday.

Graffard is finishing the season strongly – 13 of his last 37 runners have won, and the well-bred Keep Fire looks capable of further improvement, given this is just the fifth run of his career.

1.42pm Chantilly – 1pt win, 0.5pt place Keep Fire @ 14-1 (various)
