Some big yards represented in the 1m2f maiden at Chateaubriant (4.37pm), but I’m not convinced by a couple of those at the top of the market and am siding with Drip.

The son of Dabirsim made his debut in a maiden over this trip at Le Mans late last month.  Held up in rear, he was unable to get a clear run in the straight, but kept on really well once in the clear in the final half-furlong to finish fifth.

The winner (who was some way the best that day) has since gone on to success at class 2 level, but it’s encouraging that the placed horses have also franked the form.  The runner-up filled the same position at Strasbourg a couple of weeks ago, while the third (a stablemate of our selection) won nicely in maiden company at Vichy.

Maxime Guyon takes over today, and the Monfort yard is ticking along, with three winners from their last 14 runners.
