Fou Du Bresil is not the force of old, but he drops into claiming company for the first time today and Yannick Fouin’s representative won’t get many better chances than today’s contest at Clairefontaine (2.33pm).
The first and second in the market (Best Bowl and Horcalin) have run 36 times between them in their careers to date and are yet to win, while fourth in Pandoro is rated just 47.5.
A Listed-winning chaser in his prime, Fou Du Bresil hasn’t won since scoring at Auteuil in a Quinte handicap in 2020 off 59, and he was off between June 2020 and February this year.
However, he has been keeping much better company than this, and his recent close fourth over fences at Vittel off a mark of 56 came in a much better race and over a trip that stretches him.
Fouin isn’t really firing at present, but this looks a great opportunity to get one on the board.
