A decent card at Compiegne today and I’m backing Haresca Du Tabert in the 5yo chase (11.50am).

She was quietly progressive last year, culminating in an easy win at Angers in December in very soft ground (which she gets today). She could only finish second to Hunter on her chasing debut in February, but her yard was out of form at the time and she is better off at the weights, so the price discrepancy today (Hunter is 7/2) looks too big.

I really liked the way she went through the race when third here last time, and she was giving plenty of weight to the smart runner-up, while the winner looks a very useful prospect.

Delaunay has his team in excellent nick now, so the 9-1 on offer is too big.

11.50am Compiegne – 2ps win, 1pt place Haresca Du Tabert @ 17/2 (William Hill, 9-1 with Paddy Power and Betfair, 8-1 elsewhere)
