Three bets at Compiegne today, starting with T’Bolt in the 1m2f claimer (12.40pm).

He didn’t run great when tipped in this column in April, which is an inauspicious start, but had previously run a very nice race to finish fourth over 1m4f here in March in a better race than this.

His form from last year reads very well – a dual winner, including on very soft ground (which he gets today), he also finished third on very soft at Nantes off a mark of 36.5, form that would give him the beating of these.

He was given no ride in an amateur contest last time, after which he was claimed by Sofie Lanslots.  Her string are running really well at the moment and with the drop in trip unlikely to inconvenience, he is worth backing at double-figure odds.

12.40pm Compiegne – 1pt win T’Bolt @ 11-1 (all firms)

The third race on the card (1.15pm) is a 7f contest for unraced juvenile fillies, but it’s significant that Jerome Reynier sends Ritournelle on the long journey north from his Marseille base and she is taken to score.

A €260,000 yearling, she is out of the dual Group 3-placed Robanne, who made a winning debut over this trip on soft ground at two for William Knight, before running a big race in the Group 3 Oh So Sharp at Newmarket on her next outing.

Reynier’s two year olds have been very forward this year, and the only two juvenile fillies he has run so far are Wootton City (unbeaten in these colours in three starts, including at Listed level at Chantilly last time) and recent winning newcomer Vasda.

1.15pm Compiegne – 1pt win Ritournelle @ 3-1 (all firms)

Later on the card, Rimbault looks an interesting contender in the mile claimer.

He handles soft ground, his maiden form reads well in the context of this, and this is a weaker race than the claimer in which he finished fourth at Saint-Cloud last time.

He has a fair bit of weight here, but should go close for a yard among the winners.

4.10pm Compiegne – 1pt win Rimbault @ 9/2 (most firms)
