The 1m4.5f claimer (4.20pm) has an open look to it, but Marano looks a bit overpriced and is worth chancing.  Carmen Bocskai’s seven year old has a fair win record, winning five of his last 21 starts over the past couple of years.

He showed a liking for this track when scoring over course and distance in handicap company in December on the last occasion Alexis Pouchin (back on board today) was in the saddle and after three quiet comeback runs from a break, he travelled sweetly en route to finishing third in a handicap on turf at Aix last time.

The wide draw in stall 10 isn’t a negative, given he tends to be dropped in and waited with before coming with a late run, and he should go well returned to the All-Weather.

4.20pm Deauville – 1pt win, 0.5pt place Marano @ 12-1 (all firms)
