A winner in this grade at the course in August, Caddyhill hasn’t been quite at that level for his new yard, but he looks overpriced on his return to Dieppe this morning (11.05am).
He handles soft ground well and Lucas Zuliani (who was on board at Compiegne last time) takes the ride once again, which is a positive.
Favourite Granit de Thaix looks a better horse over fences these days and both he and Cybor Delrais would ideally prefer slightly drier conditions, while Zen Light is returning from a long absence.
Caddyhill needs to bounce back to form, but the 12-1 on offer is too big and he is worth chancing.

Jakou Du Boulay is an interesting contender in the Group 3 AQPS contest (1.15pm) and looks an each-way bet.
He was green on debut back in June, but still finished a very close fourth, just behind today’s morning favourite Joie De Reves, but he could well have been closer still with a clearer run in the straight.
He was value for more than the winning margin when scoring at Corlay the following month, eased down to beat a Daniele Mele representative, and I thought he went through the race last time really well, tiring close home upped in trip and back from an 11-week break at Cholet. The fourth home there ran well in a similar contest to this on her next start, and Jakou Du Boulay was giving 4kg to the Alain Couetil-trained winner, so it looks fair form.
That was presumably a prep run for today’s race – funnily enough, our selection’s half-sister won a fillies’ Group 3 bumper on this day in 2017 (at Durtal) and went on to finish runner-up in the Group 1 at Saint-Cloud later in the month. The trainer has had the whole family and it’s a strong AQPS page. The ground is the unknown, but his siblings acted on it, which is a plus.
The drop back in trip looks a positive and he looks capable of running a big race.
