Chatterton made it third time lucky when scoring at Durtal on his latest outing in mid-June and the son of Doctor Dino is overpriced to record another win on his handicap debut at Dieppe today (4.35pm).
That good-ground win may have come in just a modest maiden, but he showed a good attitude in victory and stayed the trip very well. His previous third at Chateaubriant was a fair effort and he is a scopey type who should continue to progress.
Eric Libaud’s runners tend to improve with experience and it is encouraging to see that after a very slow start to the season, his team are really hitting form at present – his last three runners have all won.
While Secession has her chance once again, I’m surprised to see her so short in the market and at the 9-1 on offer, Chatterton makes plenty of appeal.
