Insignia Of Rank was a fair handicapper in Ireland for Joe Murphy, and was rated 80 (36 in France) when leaving there last autumn, having been purchased by Ed Monfort for €25,000.

 

A winner off 75 in October 2021, he goes well on soft ground and is a really interesting outsider on his handicap debut in France off a mark of just 31 (68 UK).

 

Given one run on the AW last December, he was off until tailing off on reappearance in the provinces in late August.  However, his second effort back, on quick ground, was not a bad one at all, running on over a mile.

 

More is needed here, but the recent rain will have helped his chances and if the in-form Monfort has him back on song, this mark of 31 makes him very well-handicapped indeed.  At 16-1, it’s worth taking the chance.
