Though she has a good bit to find at the weights, Soyose looks overpriced in the claimer at Les Sables-d’Olonne this afternoon (4.37pm) and is worth chancing.

Her form so far this year had been very weak, until finishing second in a similarly weak claimer at La Gacilly last time.  Though no match for the winner, she did come from a long way back to claim second and it’s worth noting that the winner was recording a hat-trick and would be prominent in the betting here.

Following a slow start to the campaign in 2020, she went on to win twice last July/August and though they were weak races, she was much the best on both occasions.

Favourite Decbou will win if running near his mark, but he is starting out for a new yard, having finished his time with Freddy Head on a quiet note.  The others are also rated a fair bit higher than her, but all come into the race with something to prove in terms of recent form.

4.37pm Les Sables-d’Olonne – 1pt win Soyose @ 20-1 (William Hill, Ladbrokes, Skybet, 22-1 available with Bet365)

0.5pts reverse exacta Decbou (6) and Soyose (7)

Later on the card, Patchewollock makes plenty of appeal in the mile handicap (6.10pm).

A winner over this trip at Royan almost exactly a year ago, he also scored at Pau in January off 27.5, but is now 5lbs lower today and comes here on a career-low mark.

He has been running better than the form figures suggest this term, travelling nicely through the race at Longchamp in May, before twice running over an inadequate 7f at Lion d’Angers.

The return to this trip will suit, he is versatile as regards the ground and he looks a big price to give local trainer Guillaume Nicot a popular winner.

6.10pm Les Sables-d’Olonne – 1pt win, 0.5pt place Patchewollock @ 14-1 (all firms, though 16-1 with Bet365)
