Funway was a progressive sort over fences last year, winning three in a row between May-November, and there was plenty to like about his handicap performances at Bordeaux and here at Toulouse in the spring.
He finished runner-up to Gai Luron here, form that has been given a nice recent boost (six months later!) with the winner having scored in the prestigious Grade 3 Prix Montgomery at Auteuil last week.
He shaped with considerable promise on his return from a break at Bordeaux earlier this month and he looks to have strong claims of adding a fourth career success over fences on just his ninth outing in this sphere.
