One for the early risers!

Polytec was unfortunate to come down when in front and clear on her latest outing in a better race than this, and the lightly-raced five year old should be able to make amends this morning (10.00am).

The Lageneste/Macaire tandem have been in outstanding form of late – 10 of their last 25 runners have won, and they have a 20/49 strike-rate here in the past five seasons.

Polytec had shown considerable ability in a smart contest on her sole start at three and, back from two years off, she was noted staying on late at Niort in May.  That run had clearly brought her on, as she looked the likely winner when unseating on her next start.

The winner is rated 56 and the runner-up had won on her previous start, while the third went close at Cholet next time.  In short, the form looks every bit as strong as that of favourite Lady d’Aubrelle, who did show promise when third at Lyon Parilly on debut, but isn’t sure to find the drop in trip around here to her liking.  Her rider is just 1-47 this term and I’d have the selection as favourite.
