The 1m7f maiden at Angers (2.22pm) looks weak and I rate the chances of Freeness, who is bred to progress and could go close.

The daughter of Ribchester fluffed her lines at the start on debut at Cholet, but did good work to get involved with the placed horses in the home straight, behind an Aga Khan winner that bolted up in a handicap last week.  Quite a few winners have come out of that and, in the context of today’s race, it’s a fair piece of form.

She steps up from 1m2f today, but that looks a big plus. The dam won over this trip (and was rated 77), while the selection’s only sibling of racing age, May It Be, won a Listed for this yard over 1m4f last term and scored at this course in class 2 company in May.

Ludovic Gadbin’s representatives tend to improve for a run and Freeness looks to have a potentially bright future, in stark contrast to most of her opposition today.  The yard are 6-18 here in the past couple of seasons and, at an each-way price, she looks worth backing.
