Kara De Mee was sent off relatively well-supported in the coveted Prix des Citronniers and of those to reoppose today in the 1.25pm at Cagnes, she’s the only one that raced prominently and jumped sharply. Ok she fell when turning for home in 4th (harshly given as an unseat by officials!) but there was tonnes of promise in that run and she was running amongst the fancied horses in the first peloton.
Had she held her position it’s likely she’d have placed and thus she’d be ineligible for this race (fourth place would have exceeded the maximum jumps earnings for today’s entry).
She has the most resolute jumping pedigree here, being by Kapgarde and out of a hurdles winner at this course. She gets a jockey upgrade too in Johnny Charron who won a couple at Pau yesterday. Wutzelita and Slinky Malinki are short in the betting having finished in midfield in the Citronniers, but the way that both of them raced through that suggests to me that they’ll need a big step forward today to trouble the selection.
1.25pm Cagnes-sur-Mer 2pt win Kara De Mee @ 9/2 (generally available)
