Francis-Henri Graffard has a couple of slow-burners entered in today’s Meydan Trials (albeit they aren’t always for Dubai horses) and his Zarir in Race Two is worth supporting.

Exquisitely-bred, a Frankel gelding out of a Sea The Stars mare from Zarkava’s family, he’s starting to live up to that on the track and was described last month as a Group horse by his trainer.

Just a head from being unbeaten on ground no worse than soft, he has the fitness edge on Sober today and doesn’t carry a penalty. Although Sober won this last year, I fancy Zarir to put up a much better fight than his former stablemate who came 2nd on that day and was later sold as a handicapper for €60k.

1.00pm Chantilly Zarir 2pts win @ 9/4 (generally available, or 5/2 with William Hill)
