In one hour there’s a weak-looking maiden for older horses over 1900m at Chantilly, where Stephane Wattel’s Mr L’Apothicaire is taken to get off the mark at a general 4-1.

He’s a half-sibling to two Group One winners and comes in here top-rated, though Shihoku is favourite with the books. Shihoku recently changed hands and looks to be chasing French premiums for Nick Littmoden, having finished 2nd at Kempton Park last month.

Both geldings should give a good account in a race where several will be given easy rides, in order to qualify for handicaps down the line. At the prices, Mr L’Apothicaire appeals as a value bet for a team that’s saddled three winners already this year.

2.57pm – 1pt win Mr L’Apothicaire @ 4-1 (generally available, or 9/2 with Sky Bet and William Hill)
