Watch your bets at snowy Chantilly today as the meeting has been slightly delayed, with the turf race moved to Monday.
In the rescheduled 1.50pm, I think Nuance is very well treated by the conditions and the daughter of Dream Ahead is taken to win what appears to be a match race with Francis-Henri Graffard’s Ispahan, who was formerly trained by David Simcock.
Nuance is a lightly-raced mare making just her tenth career start today at Chantilly. She was a 7 length winner of a handicap at this track for her final start of 2020 and then made a very smart reappearance at Dieppe last August, only to be disqualified for intereference.
Her ambitious owner likes to aim high and although she was entered in the Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe last year, two subsequent defeats after Dieppe in handicap company took the gloss off her profile somewhat.

Well-backed throughout the day for her 2022 return, she made all in a weak race at Pornichet to score by 6 lengths and looks far better than her mark, which remains unchanged at 35.0.With Coralie Pacaut’s allowance, Nuance receives 2kg from Isapahan today who was disappointing on his Lyon La Soie return, albeit that was his first start for six months.
Ispahan finished his UK season on a BHA Rating of 82, which translates to 37.0 in France. If he runs to form he could trouble Nuance, though he appears to be on the downgrade. I’d have Nuance closer to even-money in this company today and it’s a shame that the paper favourite is now a non-runner, as I was very keen to oppose him.
If you can get it, the 11/8 insurebet 2 places with William Hill is a no-brainer.
