Plenty to get stuck into at Chantilly this afternoon, where I fancy that the best bet on the card is in the Group Two Grand Prix de Chantilly.

The race features my antepost Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe bet, Fenelon, who was entitled to be a little rusty at Lyon-Parilly on his 2022 return, but I must admit that he looks to have a mountain still to climb to reach Group One level.

The sire Nathaniel has had a brilliant weekend already and I really fancy his French 4yo colt Bubble Gift to return to the winners’ enclosure this afternoon.

Well-backed for his seasonal reappearance at ParisLongchamp, following an encouraging 8th in the Prix de l’Arc last year, he looked booked for second behind Mutabahi (as short as 11/4 for today and has a good chance) but appeared to blow up in the final strides.

Bubble Gift trains plenty on this course and shed his maiden tag here last spring. The Delzangles yard is really firing – having won the Pouliches last month with Mangoustine he saddled an eye-catching 1-2 in a maiden this week at huge odds. Recent rain in the Chantilly area will help his chance he is reported in good order according to his trainer this weekend.

The selection has 1lb to find on ratings with Mare Australis, the 5/2 favourite, who now has questions to answer.

Bubble Gift should give backers a great run for their money at 8-1.
