The conditions race at 1.58pm UK time this afternoon at Clairefontaine has the makings of a potential upset. Six three-year-olds line up and the pick on form and reputation is the Aga Khan-owned Khalidiya.

Khalidiya drops back to a mile today having flopped twice in Group company. On her French rating of 44 she might appeal to some at 6/4, but she has pulled plenty in those two races and she might need more than a sheepskin noseband to put everything into her race.

Regular readers know that Fabrice Chappet is in flying form and his gelding White Whisky is taken to continue his ascent up the ranks with a win here. The son of Kodiak made his racecourse debut in April in a schooling race, showing a good attitude to run third. He then won a weak Longchamp maiden in May and most recently finished held in second at this track behind the well-touted Rouget colt Shafaaf.

Returning to the same course and distance and taking on only fillies, I think he is ‘well in’ for the repeat race today at Clairefontaine which is a course that not all horses handle well. Miss Louna is interesting at 6/1 with course form to her name, but all fillies will do well to run White Whisky close given his rider’s 3.5kg claim.

RECOMMENDED BET – White Whisky @ 7/2 (Betfred and bet365)
