Dominique Bressou’s Raffles Classic is a full brother to Group One placed Raffles Sun and connections were rewarded for their patience when he returned in June to win over this course after two years off the track. The son of Poliglote jumps for fun and took another step forward, again at this track, to run second to classy Virgo Celestin (a winner of 9 of his 11 starts).

He had Hispanic Moon and Dentor Des Obeaux in behind him on that run and meets both on the same or better terms today in a handicap. Leading rider Clément Lefebvre heads to the track for just this ride and the first time cheekpieces should stop him wandering around. Having had just 10 racecourse starts, the seven-year-old has much more scope to progress than his rivals today and he looks ready to exploit his mark of 56.0, handed to him in 2019.

Although he’d like a bit of rain, which he won’t get today, the stable is also in brilliant form. Bressou has saddled four winners at this track since the start of July and this looks a great entry for his progressive chaser. With four places paid by most firms, he is an each-way bet.
