Kasman is not the force of old, having once taken part in the Grand Prix de Paris and sold for €77,000 at the Arqana sale in 2019. Nevertheless, he is up to winning small races for his current connections and is weighted to win today off a claiming tag of €8,000.

He is one of four runners to have a vaguely experienced female rider on today and is top-rated. He handles soft and it may be coincidental that most of his runs have been on fast ground or the all-weather. Today’s rider Berit Weber has ridden around the world on the Longines Fegentri Series and knows her way around France well – she has even won the handicap on Prix de Diane Day.

In a homogeneous lot in soft ground, Kasaman looks the bet to return to winning ways. He has headgear back on and he appeared to struggle at Pornichet last time. He lost his position in the run and despite moving ok, was then crowded out of the final sprint at the business end. Weber has partnered the gelding before and she is taken to get our afternoon off to the perfect start.

RECOMMENDED BET: Kasaman (13/2 12.50pm Compiegne)
