The opening Prix Yacowlef (12.58pm) is a Listed 5f contest for the two year olds, with Italian Listed winner Royal Ashirah and British raider Choux adding spice to what doesn’t look the strongest of races on paper.

Both the above are rightly fancied in the market, but it might pay to take a chance on Papa Don’t Preach.  Florian Guyader’s son of Kodiac fluffed his lines at the start on debut in a Listed contest, but the fact he opened up at that level shows what his connections think of him and the plan had been, if he had run well, to go to Royal Ascot.  Runner-up on his next outing at Chantilly, he also held the Group 2 Robert Papin entry next week and this well-related colt looks open to plenty of improvement.

The booking of Theo Bachelot catches the eye and the yard’s runners are going well, so Papa Don’t Preach looks set to run a big race at double-figure odds.
