Another gala meeting at Deauville today with a renewal of the Prix Jacques Le Marois almost as good as the 2013 renewal, when Moonlight Cloud led home the likes of Dawn Approach, Intello, Declaration of War and Olympic Glory.

As with most of the top prizes, the feature looks ear-marked for export and I’m looking elsewhere on the card for home chances that are underrated by the UK markets.

Tip 1 – 3.25pm Deauville

The Listed prize at 3.25pm is the focus of my attention today and I’m delighted to see Andre Fabre’s Mond back in action. A maiden winner at this course last year over 10 furlongs, he looked quick enough to be considered for a Guineas but was only given entries in the middle distances Classics and Trials this spring. Still to make his debut this season, what he lacks for race fitness I think he can compensate for in quality and 12/1 looks to significantly underestimate his chances in this company.

The likes of Gregolimo and In Crowd look to have reached a ceiling and the threat could come from his own stable – Baratti is a 10/1 chance and there was plenty to like about his winning debut in April.
