Conditions are likely to be quite testing at Deauville today where one horse stands out to me.

Race two is the Prix Moonlight Cloud, confined to three-year-old sprinters who haven’t won a Group race.

British raider Mill Stream has opened up favourite at a general 3-1 but is worth siding with. He had a good reputation as a juvenile, winning on his racecourse debut, and today connections appear to have found a good opportunity to land his first black type race.

Recently reassessed at OR 105 following another narrow defeat to the handicap freak Quinault (who went up 7lbs himself), his experience will be valuable in this calmer race and he held Group One entries as recently as June. Barzalona’s agent tried to get him the ride on our selection – to which Jane Chapple-Hyam said, ‘I don’t think he’ll be beaten, that’s why I’m keeping Marco on’!

Vicious Harry is the danger on form but appears to have hit a ceiling. Even if he repeats a career best, I think he’ll come up short.

Valimi is being tried at a sprint trip today but is impossible to fancy on form and is one to take on. He’s been trimmed into favouritism in the UK but I fancy it’s more of an adjustment to reflect the fact he’s the current favourite on the PMU.

1.33pm Deauville – 1.5pts win Mill Stream at 3-1 (all firms, bet365 100/30 if you can get it)
