Race Two at Deauville today is a super claimer where you might be able to buy a Spanish 1000 Guineas winner for €43,000!

The aforementioned Guineas winner Inishnee quite rightly heads the market for this at 15/8. Her stable is going well but this will be her eighth start of the season and she could be on the downgrade.

Pontet looks a good chance for Jerome Reynier at 9/2 but his high claiming tag means that he carries 57kg here and has to give weight away all round.

At the other end of the weights I think Premiere Etoile is a shade overpriced for the Jean-Claude Rouget team at 13/2. The Ribchester filly has a fast ground action and finished 3rd on her handicap debut off a mark of 36.0. She should be fine on the polytrack today and could be given away in this at €25,000. Rouget is not one to hang around when he has horses who he considers to be harshly-treated by France Galop’s handicappers and a good run here will see her claimed.

5.30pm Deauville – 1pt win Premiere Etoile 13/2 (all firms)

Later on in the 6.50pm at Deauville, I think Toronado filly Coco Senora has a good chance of winning on her handicap debut. She made a taking debut in a weak Pornichet maiden at the back end of last year and presumably faced an issue or two that winter – she wasn’t seen again until June. Her two summer runs this year looked decidedly ‘quiet’ and I think she could have more to offer now handicapping.

Owned by the Haras des Senora, it’s interesting that she’s one of the shortest in the early PMU betting and is worth a play at 10-1 in the UK, especially if you can get 4 places with Sky Bet, Paddy Power, Betfair Sportsbook or Betfred. If you can’t, she is a win-only bet still.
