Low-grade stuff at Fontainebleau today, but there’s one I like in the final race on the card, with Gemohio making plenty of appeal stepping up in trip in the 2m5f handicap hurdle (2.52pm).
Though she is just 1-17 in his jumps career to date, she has spent most of her time running at the better tracks and there are plenty of pieces of form that suggest she can play a big part in this off a mark of 53, not least her fifth in a Listed Quinte handicap hurdle at Compiegne in March off 3kg higher.
Runner-up on three occasions over fences this summer, she was second on her sole career start over further than 2m3f, behind a progressive Delaunay-trained mare in very soft ground over 2m6.5f at Dieppe in June, so she could yet have more to offer over this sort of trip.
Brought down in a Quinte at Auteuil two starts back, I thought she was a real eyecatcher there last time, being given a quiet ride in behind and staying on nicely from the last under hands and heels, again shaping like this step up in trip could suit her ideally.
Sonia Delaroche doesn’t get many winners, but a recent link-up with Maximilien Farcinade (who is on board for the first time today) has seen a third at Auteuil, and a first and second at Argentan from her last four runners, so the yard’s runners look to be in good form.
2.52pm Fontainebleau – 1pt win, 0.5pt place Gemohio @ 9-1 (various)
