The seven-race card at Angers is already underway, but we’ll wait until the fifth race for our bet, with Stebraltar overpriced at 7-1 to make a winning return today.
The well-related son of Prince Gibraltar has presumably been a little tricky to train, having run just three times in his career to date. A creditable seventh on debut in the prestigious Prix Finot at Auteuil in September 2020, he made a winning reappearance from over six months off when scoring at Lyon last April under this rider.
He failed to back that up at Auteuil the following month, and has been off since, but the fact his powerful connections are persevering is a tip in itself, and he has always been held in quite high regard.
Leenders has reported that the horse is fit and well for today’s assignment and with the help of Florian Besson’s claim, he is getting 5kg from his two main market rivals.
11.20am Angers – 1pt win, 0.5pt place Stebraltar @ 7-1 (QuinnBet and all firms)
