The opener at Cagnes features two representatives from the Jerome Reynier yard and Padron looks likely to once again get the better of his stablemate Ursuly with another victory today.

The pair were having their first start of 2022 when running over course and distance in similar company last time and Padron looked value for more than the winning margin of 1/2L.  While they are both open to improvement (Reynier’s tend to improve from their first run of the season), Padron was a Listed winner last year, loves deep ground and should prove very tough to beat.

RECOMMENDED BET: 12.15pm Cagnes Padron win @ 11/10

In the three-year-old claimer, Reynier has another chance of success with Happy Harry, who looks big at 9-1 this morning.  He was claimed out of Francois Monfort’s for just over €20,000, and ran an eye-catching race in defeat on his debut for this yard last time.

He didn’t get the clearest of runs that day, but finished notably well and the step up in trip/switch to turf could well bring about further improvement.  It’s interesting that his connections chose to defend at over €25,000 last time and, granted a clearer run this time, he has strong claims.

RECOMMENDED BET: 1.30pm Cagnes Happy Harry ew @ 9-1
