The opening claimer isn’t the strongest of races for the grade, not surprising given a top tag of 18K, and I think Mont Steele looks set to run a very big race.

The six year old won twice here at this time last year, off marks of 30 and 34, and could well have finished in the frame granted a clearer run in a CD handicap in March off 38.5, form which would certainly give him the beating of these.

He rather lost his way in the summer, but a win at Pornichet last time shows he is coming back into form and he won’t need to improve much on that to go very close here.

His trainer Romain Le Dren Doleuze is in blistering form, with 7 winners from his last 15 runners and Mont Steele looks a decent price at 6-1 to continue that good run.
