A nine-race card at Deauville this afternoon and we head to the 7.5f class 3 for our bet on the card, with Assier an interesting contender at a fair price this morning.

He started out really well for this yard (previously with Andre Fabre and Simone Brogi) late last year, winning on his second start back from a break over a mile on the All-Weather at Cagnes off a mark of 31 (and showing a good turn of foot in the process), and won again two starts later back on turf, off 34.

He would’ve gone pretty close in a Quinte off 37.5 in April but for getting repeatedly blocked in the run, and class/ground were really valid excuses on his next two outings in early summer.  He has returned from a break with a couple of quiet runs, but he wasn’t disgraced off 34 last time out and this is easier.

12.30pm – 1pt win, 0.5pt place Assier @ 12-1 (Paddy Power, Betfair, 14-1 with Bet365, 11-1 elsewhere)
