The father and son team of Carlos and Yann Lerner have been in fine form this week and they have a couple of good chances at ParisLongchamp, with promising three year old Avellaneda looking tough to beat in the maiden (2.00pm).  She is a short-priced favourite, but at bigger odds it is worth chancing one of their later runners on the card, Tara.

The daughter of Mastercraftsman is at her best when conditions are testing and she ran right away with a heavy-ground maiden at Clairefontaine last year, before finishing fifth in Listed company at the same track.

She hasn’t been quite at that level this year, but a good run in a Quinte here in June off a 2.5kg higher mark was encouraging, and she has actually run well enough on her last two starts over 1m2f at Saint-Cloud.

I like this trip for her, especially with the soft ground that she prefers, and she is best in at the weights.  With the yard going so well at present, she looks set to run a big race and is overpriced this morning.

3.45pm ParisLongchamp – 2pt win, 1pt place Tara @ 15/2 (various)
