Nothing that really stands out at a price at Pau today, but I’ve backed a couple on the card, starting with Bou Has in the beginners’ chase (11.35am).

Her third at Nantes on heavy ground in May on her second of three starts for Arnaud Chaille-Chaille was a good effort, and I thought she showed a really good attitude when runner-up on her seasonal return/stable debut at Nantes last month.

She has the size to suggest she can take to the larger obstacles and makes plenty of appeal on pedigree.

11.35am – 1pt win Bou Has @ 4-1 (all firms)

In contrast to the beginners’ chase, which is far from the most competitive of races, the class 1 chase (12.40pm) has attracted some useful sorts.  However, I imagine this has been the plan for Invite Special, he comes here a fresh horse and should take plenty of beating.

Placed in a Listed handicap hurdle at Auteuil last autumn, he was 2/2 over fences here at Pau at the winter meetings last year and he clearly loves this track.

His recent fourth over hurdles at Bordeaux a month ago should have brought him along nicely with this in mind, and Erwan Grall’s team couldn’t be in better nick.
