Low-grade fare at Pornichet this evening, but there is a bet in the third division of the 1m4f handicap, with Miengo worth supporting at a big price.

The six year old won here last January off just 1lb higher, on what was his first attempt over this trip on the AW.  He travelled well in rear and finished really strongly to score that day, but couldn’t build on that when switched to turf in the following months.

However, I thought there was promise in his reappearance effort here a fortnight ago, as he moved well through the race, but had to wait for a run and could only keep on at the one pace when in the clear.  That first run in six months should bring him on from a fitness perspective, and though he has a couple of lengths to make up on Tirolienne and Magic Senora, the return to this trip looks sure to suit.

Laura Poggionuovo, who was on board last time for the first time since scoring on Miengo here last year, was booked to ride, but suffered a suspected broken tibia in a fall yesterday.  However, her replacement Chloe Gendron has a decent record in the past couple of seasons and has won on three of her last nine rides.

4.55pm Pornichet – 1pt win, 0.5pt place Miengo @ 16-1 (all firms)
