The two-year-old maiden at Deauville (6.17pm) looks a weak contest and following a luckless run at Chantilly last time, Noire is worth supporting.

The daughter of first-season sire Ultra (4-27 in France so far this year) showed a bit of ability when fifth on turf at Chantilly back in July, but would have bettered that form on the AW there last week, but had nowhere to go up the straight and was given a considerate ride by Barzalona, once it was clear her chance had gone.

That run last week came in a stronger race than this and she certainly didn’t have a hard race, so I’m not concerned about the quick turnaround.

6.17pm Deauville – 1pt win, 0.5pt place Noire @ 17/2 (all firms)
