La Teste De Buch Tips and Racecourse Guide
La Teste De Buch is one of the strongest provincial tracks in France, benefitting from its proximity to powerful trainers such as Jean-Claude Rouget, Francois Rohaut and Didier Guillemin on the flat and the Royan jumps training base.
La Teste De Buch is located near Bordeaux and attracts plenty of international visitors as it is the site of the Osarus Sales House, which tends to throw up cheaper yearlings than Arqana.
The summer highlight is the Critérium du Bequet for juveniles. The race can be overshadowed by subsequent contests in Paris and Normandy, but it has produced a couple of Group One horses recently. 2016 winner Spain Burg went on to land the Rockfel Stakes at Newmarket, beating Frankel filly Fair Eva. 2013 winner Noozhoh Canarias went on to fly the flag for Spain at the highest level, finishing 2nd in the Jean-Luc Lagadere and sixth in the 2014 2000 Guineas behind Night of Thunder.
La Teste De Buch Tips
A decent card at La Teste this afternoon, with two Group 2 contests for the Arabians and an interesting Listed race for three year olds, in which King Shalaa makes plenty of appeal.
He looked a really smart prospect in winning his first three starts, starting over this course and distance a year ago. The form of his class 2 win on his second and final outing as a juvenile couldn’t have worked out much better, and he defeated the smart Fort Payne in a Listed on the AW at Cagnes in February.
I wouldn’t read much into his seventh in the Group 3 Prix La Force, which came on very soft ground and at a time when the yard was under a bit of a cloud. He then ran much better on his return from four months off at Deauville last time, not getting the clearest of runs but finishing within two lengths of today’s favourite Mouillage.
The different race conditions today mean King Shalaa is 4lbs better off with the Rouget representative and the Rohaut yard continues to go really well, with seven winners from their last 15 runners.

Quite a trappy card at La Teste this afternoon, but I think there is a fair bit more to come from OK Boomer and she is worth backing in the 1m1f handicap (3.22pm). The daughter of Slade Power won a good-ground claimer over this trip at Fontainebleau in April on her...
In the 3.07pm this afternoon at La Teste De Buch most punters will be siding with the handily-weighted Mozzarella, who takes a big step down in class and benefits from the 3lb female rider claim of Michel. Mozzarella stayed on into fifth last month in a Hannover...
The second race at La Teste this morning is a claimer for older horses and would appear on paper to be between the top three in the market. Christophe Escuder's L'Indomptable heads the market but has raced almost every calendar month this year and looks on the...
Didier Guillemin has his team in excellent form and Concept can give him another juvenile winner in the opener at La Teste de Buch (12.45pm). The daughter of Shalaa showed ability on debut in a stronger race than this, and looks to have the requisite speed to cope...
I like one in handicap company at La Teste today, with Royal Bowl looking a good bet at the prices in the 1m4f handicap (1.35pm). He travelled so well through the race here last time, but got absolutely no run up the inside when the leaders quickened and his rider...
