One bet on the card at Longchamp today, with Asterella capable of making her second start of the season a winning one in the 6.5f class 2 (1.33pm).

The daughter of Olympic Glory was a runaway winner of a soft-ground maiden over 7f last August, after which she finished fifth in a good-ground Group 3.  She built on that when runner-up to Ralph Beckett’s Lullaby Moon in the Group 3 Prix Miesque on heavy ground, travelling really well through the contest – the subsequent Poule d’Essai Des Pouliches first and third were directly behind her that day, so it reads as a strong piece of form.

She could only finish fifth on her reappearance over this CD in a class 2 contest, but that came on significantly quicker ground than she will encounter today, and a few of the yard’s runners looked in need of their seasonal return.  However, her yard has been in fine form of late, with Bubble Gift and Sagamiyra winning in Group 2 and Listed company here in the past fortnight.

Though she was a winner over 7f last term, it is worth noting her dam was fourth at Listed level over 6f, while the granddam started over a mile at three, but ended up winning a 5f Group 3 here as a four year old.

1.33pm Longchamp – 1pt win Asterella @ 7/2 (all firms, though 4-1 with William Hill)
