Les Pavots and Freville would technically rate as the ‘best’ of the home defence in the Prix Marcel Boussac, but the improver Rose Bloom has been dramatically overlooked in the markets.

Nicolas Clement’s filly has a lovely page and the style of her two wins has been impressive. The plan wasn’t to make the running last time but  she’s obviously versatile and the fact she’s supplemented here is a tip in itself.

Minoushka’s 2nd in the Arqana race yesterday wasn’t unhelpful to the form and I think she’s a good thing for at least a place. She’s the early favourite on the PMU, so odds of 11-1 have to be snapped up this morning before the inevitable crash. She has a similar profile to Kelina, who was a 2-1 chance for this last year having won the same conditions race at Chantilly.

1.50pm Longchamp – 1pt each-way Rose Bloom @ 10-1 (generally available to 3 places, or better still, take 11-1, 4 places with William Hill)

Hopefully by 5.00pm we’re still going strongly! Jean-Claude Rouget’s Fang was only 7th in this last year but has his ground today. He won the prep in great style and looks electric from the gates now. He’ll need a career best to win today but I don’t think Kinross is a ‘Space Blues’ and Sauterne has a double figure draw to content with.

Fang rates as a good each-way bet, either at 20-1, 3 places, or for additional safety, take 18-1, 4 places, with Paddy Power if you can.
