Wala’a has been targeted at today’s 1.33pm Arabian race ever since her win back in February. Regular readers might remember her — we backed her in what was basically an egg-and-spoon race that day — and she’s been given a light campaign since.

The same connections won this race last year, and there’s really only the favourite to worry about, who had a June target and had to alter her prep for this due to the August heatwave.

The selection’s dam finished her career over shorter trips, but Wala’a stays 2000 m perfectly well, and that same dam won a Group 1 over this very trip on this same weekend ten years ago.

Trainer X. Thomas-Demeaulte and her owner clearly know the playbook for this race, and based on recent quotes we think Wala’a is ahead of all the others — namely:

  • Lacaro Du Croate
  • Bianca De Ghazal (needs to settle better)
  • Al Muthqafah
  • and Hm Al Zalmaa (since transferred to Elizabeth Bernard who is cool her chances in the press)

Everything points to her being fit, fresh, and perfectly primed to strike today.
