Longchamp Tips and Racecourse Guide

Longchamp, sometimes known as ParisLongchamp, is the jewel in the French Racing crown and plays host to Europe’s premier race in October, the €5,000,000 Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe over 12 furlongs.

Longchamp represents the best of what French Racing has to offer, providing an outstanding racecourse and a relaxed environment for patrons.

The racing program includes the French Guineas in May, the Prix Ganay, the Grand Prix de Paris, the Prix du Cadran and a magnificent undercard on Prix de l’Arc weekend.

The crowd swells on Arc Sunday and the recently-renovated grandstand holds a capacity of 60,000.

In response to some frustration about being drawn wide, particularly over a mile for the Guineas, France Galop have introduced a cut-away just over two furlongs from home which is used for major fixtures.

Longchamp has a sprint course on the infield which plays host to the best French sprinters in the run up to the Prix de l’Abbaye, as well as some two-year-old races.

Longchamp Horse Racing Tips Today – 30/06 Pt 2

Pisorno is not the easiest to predict, but if the today’s rain in Paris has got into the ground, he certainly shouldn’t be a 33-1 shot for today’s 7f claiming handicap at ParisLongchamp (4.49pm).

For a start, he knows how to win, having landed heavy-ground handicaps at Cagnes in January and most recently at Compiegne in March, the latter coming off a mark just 0.5kg lower than the 35 he races off today.

He has had some poor draws since, including in two subsequent Quinte runs, and again when fifth in a claimer at Saint-Cloud last time, when unfavoured at the weights.

He was a big price for both his wins earlier this year and now down in grade, he is worth a small bet at a big price.

4.49pm ParisLongchamp – 1pt win, 0.5pt place Pisorno @ 33-1 (Bet365, Paddy Power, Betfair, 28-1 Skybet, Fitzdares, 25-1 elsewhere)

The dust has only recently settled on a shock 2021 renewal of the Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe and the betting odds are already out for the 2022 edition. 2021 favourite and runner-up Tarnawa retires to the paddocks, but the 1st, 3rd, 4th and 5th could all return to...

2021 Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe Review

It was a real thrill and privilege to be back at Longchamp last weekend after what has seemed an eternity since the 2019 edition - the last that paying spectators were able to attend. The weather more of less held up and for those that made the journey, the raceday...

How to get there

Metro

Longchamp is served by metro stations to the north-east and south-east of the racecourse. Above Longchamp, patrons can take the Metro Line 1 to Porte Maillot and then a shuttle on major racedays and Sundays from the bus stop of the 244 bus. Alternatively, they can take the Metro Line 10 to Porte d’Auteuil and the shuttle bus leaves from the top of the station at street level.

The shuttle adds time to the journey but from then it is a non-stop transfer, making the small wait worthwhile.

Taxi

If you are treating yourself to a trip to Longchamp whilst on holiday or are able to split the fare, a taxi makes sense, even from Central Paris or Gare du Nord.

An Uber costs about €35 from Central Paris to the racecourse and takes half an hour.

Fly

Longchamp can be reached via Charles de Gaulle or Orly airports. Orly is much closer and is well worth selecting if you can. From there, it is a 40-minute taxi to the racecourse.

French Racing Tips – 24 October

Heavy ground is expected at Longchamp this afternoon and it's fair to assume that the Prix Royal-Oak will be an attritional test that is unlikely to favour Skazino, Alkuin and Call The Wind, who all ran in the Prix du Cadran two weeks ago. The same could be said about...
