Haptics was very badly hampered on handicap debut at Chantilly last month, jockey Alexis Pouchin losing his irons on the home bend, at which point the race was over.

Though he had finished unplaced on his three starts in maidens (fifth on each occasion), they came in better races than this, and he’s a well-bred individual with a pedigree that suggests this step up in trip will help.

This looks a weak enough maiden and at double-figure odds, he is well worth backing.
