Lyon La Soie Tips and Racecourse Guide
Lyon La Soie is one of Lyon’s two city racecourses and is located in the north. With no turf circuit, Lyon La Soie plays host to flat racing on the polytrack as well as trotting racing on the inner circuit.
Flat racing takes place from September to May, often under floodlights. The racecourse is joined to the Carré de Soie shopping centre, featuring a magnificent 14-screen Pathé cinema.

The maiden at Lyon looks weak enough, despite the numbers, and the Francis Graffard-trained newcomer Pay To Learn is too big at 4-1 to make a winning debut.
A €260,000 yearling, since when his half-sister Autumn Starlight has firmly established herself as a black-type filly, he is one of eight colts from his powerful yard to hold a Group 1 Grand Prix de Paris entry, which was made just six weeks ago, suggesting Pay To Learn has shown more than enough ability at home to win a race of this nature.
Graffard has been in blistering form this year, operating at a 29% strike-rate and three of his five runners in Lyon (La Soie and Parilly) maidens in 2024 have won. That’s a stark contrast to the fortunes of the trainer of the favourite, fellow Chantilly handler Christophe Ferland, who made the move north last year and whose string are just struggling for form at present.
Well drawn in stall 2, he has the 2kg allowance for newcomers and with Marie Velon’s 1.5kg claim, he is getting handy weight from the two that head the market; the Ferland-trained Agoria (who did run very well first time up) and Mia Man, who is giving him 3.5kg – though he is still a danger, with Bachelot a good booking.
2pts win, 1pt place Pay To Learn @ 4-1 (most firms, 9/2 in places)

The 3.42pm at Lyon provides a great opportunity for Jean-Claude Rouget's Alessandro to return to winning ways having bumped into subsequent Group winner Pretty Tiger at Cagnes-sur-Mer. He has a wide draw to contend with this afternoon but is one of few in here that...
French Racing Tips – 27/02 Pt 2
The 1m1f maiden at Lyon lacks any strength in depth and morning favourite Black Wall gets another chance to shed his maiden tag. However, he isn't the most straightforward and is worth taking on with Spell On You. The Niarchos-owned filly finished sixth on debut at...
French Racing Tips – 06/01
A couple of bets in the maidens at Lyon this evening, starting with Onzemai in the colts & geldings contest (5.45pm). The son of Dream Ahead looked in need of the experience on debut at Deauville in November, and was drawn in the car park for his second start at...
French Racing Tips – 22 December
We were unlucky not to collect on our Mathieu Pitart-trained runner yesterday, who unseated at the last when in front, but it was another example of how the yard's representatives come on for an initial run and I'm backing another of his at Lyon today. Broken Twin was...

One bet on the card at Lyon this afternoon, with Chuppy a really interesting contender in the 1m4f class 3. She is getting 8kg off the favourite (before that one's claim is taken into account), who is rated just 34, yet Chuppy was well supported when fifth on debut at...
