A winner on very soft ground at Saint-Cloud back in April, Doctor Ari ran a nice comeback race there a month ago and is worth backing to return to winning ways at Lyon Parilly this morning (11.50am).

That Saint-Cloud win came on just his second career start, and he came from nowhere to claim useful yardstick Antelope Canyon on the line, with subsequent Gr.3 Prix de Lutece runner-up Fasol back in third.  That performance suggests today’s very testing conditions will be in his favour.

Though only sixth on reappearance, he wasn’t beaten at all far and was staying on at the line.  He finished in behind a decent group there and this is a weaker line-up.

Favourite Alerio won the Prix Juigne for newcomers at Longchamp in April, but that form didn’t really work out and I haven’t been blown away by his two runs since, the latest on his return from four months off.  He had Abondant back in fifth that day, but that one has built up plenty of experience since and was a clear runner-up in a Quinte last time, beaten only by Aude, a sharply-progressive filly of Christophe Ferland’s that goes in today’s Listed contest (1.42pm). He handles soft ground well, is a danger and it’s no surprise there has been some money for him, as 6-1 looked too big.
