Fabrice Chappet only saddled one winner at Lyon-Parilly last year, but the Chantilly trainer should still be followed when he raids Lyon – he was second to only Jean-Pierre Gauvin in wins in 2021 with six.

Chappet can blow hot and cold but I think there is plenty of evidence his yard is doing better this month with five winners from his last 25 runners. He sends just one to Lyon today, in his own colours, and I think the 7-race maiden Second To None can out-run his general odds of 10-1.

The €280,000 yearling has undoubtedly been a disappointment, but he ran a career best over this course last June in a maiden. A return to turf and a step up to 10 furlongs should be to his liking given his running style.

Finally, despite this being a handicap, there really isn’t a lot in here that I fancy. Exterieur is very short at 5/2 and is winless since August. La Haute Isle was tempting at 15/2 but this could be a soft reintroduction for her at a local track. Waldkauz could improve for a jockey who excels on handicappers but he possibly prefers larger fields and has a habit of finding others too good!

Given those doubts, I think Second To None is the value here.
